Vosper MTB981 viewsMTBs make nice models; spectacular and aggressive-looking, with a good performance. This one came to me half built, and quite competently done. It is based on the Deans Marine Vosper MTB 385. Now Deans use single-shaft machinery to reduce current drain and get a decent running time, relying on lightweight construction to get a good performance. But the original boats had three shafts. Battery technology has moved on a lot since this model was designed. I intend to complete her with three shafts, and see what sort of performance she offers. When I’ve had my fun building and playing with her, she will come up for sale. She will be ready in 2008, tested, reliable, fully refurbished, complete with transmitter, just add water and go. If you wish to reserve her, get in touch now.

Red narrowboat977 viewsWe built two narrowboats, for a gentleman whose garden is given over to a large and splendid live-steam narrow-gauge system.
Visitors on open days say they make a marvellous sight, gliding silently along the cut, while the little trains chuff along the quays, and passing the two without mishap is as interesting as in a real canal.

Peggy966 viewsThey were built to pursue "the silver harvest, free to all", the herring which once swarmed in the North sea in huge, seemingly inexhaustible shoals. Now, due to a combination of overfishing and pollution, herring stocks have collapsed to the point where no more can be landed from the North Sea. We are learning, slowly and late, that the natural world is not an inexhaustible storehouse of resources to be plundered at will.
Graph_graphic.jpg
HMS Graph962 viewsHMS Graph began life as U-570. She was captured by the RN, taken into service, used for research, and carried out a few operational patrols, during which she carried out an attack on a sister ship, U-333.
The model came to me as a Robbe U-47, in reasonable condition. There was some light damage to the hydroplanes, and the decks were a bit scruffy, but the mechanism was really well built, which is important, as a submarine is one type of model you really do not want to suffer from mechanical or electrical failure. Over the months, I have tidied it up, and made a few improvements. For instance, Robbe’s original current-guzzling motors, which restrict the model in standard trim to a very short running time, have been replaced with low-drain units.
I have also been researching Graph’s appearance. The model will be fitted with a conning tower from Dreamworks, and other details will be altered to conform to Graph. She will be ready in 2008, tested, reliable, fully refurbished, complete with transmitter, just add water and go. If you wish to reserve her, get in touch now.

Peggy961 viewsThis model is over four feet long, and weighs over twenty pounds. She is thus fairly demanding of display space. Every expedition to the water demands careful planning, to get her in and out of the car without damage, and to transport her safely from the car-park to the water. But what a magnificent picture she makes! Models of this kind carry a level of detail, and acheieve a presence on the water, which their smaller sisters simply cannot match. She has a full range of working features, including navigation lights which work in two modes; steaming, or lying to her nets.

Flower Class Corvette (1/96th)939 viewsThis little model is one of my favourites. It is based on the Deans Marine 1/96th Flower class corvette, with some added detail. It is only two feet long, and can be carried to the pond in one hand. But in spite of this, it can be put afloat in the sort of weather which has many people nervously hauling their models out.

Swift (steam launch)933 viewsHere is an interesting example of what can be done. The client supplied us with a wooden hull in a very rough state. He had picked it up in an antique shop, and liked the lines. We completely rebuilt it. We installed a simple interior, and a small steam plant. Just look at the engine! You can almost smell the steam and hot oil.

HMY Britannia932 viewsThis model of the Royal Yacht "Britannia" faithfully captures her lovely lines. A true scale model, she has an excellent performance on the water. Radio control equipment gives control of the rudder, independent control of the twin screws, and switches on a small tape player loaded with a compilation of music from the band of the Royal Marines. At just over four feet long, she is big enough to have a wonderfully convincing presence on the water. She was featured in "Marine Modelling" magazine.

ACHILLES926 viewsThis lovely little display piece is a model of a fast New York schooner, circa 1835.
dragon3m.jpg
Dragon class keelboat.926 viewsAs you can see, she sails very prettily. This example was commisioned for the famous Childe Beale collection. She was the third of the type we have built. The other two were a matching pair, researched from the full-sized vessels for their owner, who still sails them enthusiastically in a hard-fought racing series.

Flower Class Corvette (1/96th)925 viewsThis gives a good view of the intricate detail found on even a small warship model. Although it is only to 1/96th scale, it compares quite well with its 1/48th scale equivalent.

Schnellboot_for_site.jpg
Schnellboot.925 views1/24th scale, a big, impressive, model, with an excellent performance. Not quite to our usual standard, but then the price was good and cheap too! SOLD
